“Family Guy” Volume 12 DVD Review

“Family Guy” reaches new heights of hilarity in this outrageous collection of 22 uncensored episodes, including fan-favorite “Into Fat Air,” where the Griffins rock Mount Everest, plus the comedy jackpot “Roads to Vegas” and the milestone 200th episode “Yug Ylimaf,” in which Brian and Stewie develop a curious case of reverse aging thanks to a time machine foul-up. It’s a complete season of laughs with celebrity guest voices Johnny Depp, Jon Hamm, Sofia Vergara and more!
Modern Television is an empire that has many ups and downs. The information age, along with Netflix, red box, and other streaming/rental options, has created a very competitive playing field where new television series are born and die, sometimes in the same season. Some TV series manage to stand apart from the rest and become very popular despite the obstacles. Family Guy is a perfect example.

Introducing Family Guy, volume twelve. This 3 disc set is loaded with commentaries, deleted scenes, hilarious content, and (of course) the “too good for TV” content that was censored, this allows you to view the full episodes in the form which they were intended to be viewed. There are twenty-two episodes on these discs, including the 200th appealing with a stylized black and white look. It looks great on the shelf with the other Family Guy sets.

Some will argue that the unstable television industry benefits the average viewer by allowing only the highest-rated shows to stay on-air, others will disagree. I, for one, do not like to become involved with a show, only to see it axed by season 2 or (if I’m lucky) 3. Family guy is more than a series, it is an empire, one that offers comedy that millions of people can identify with. The combined success of viewer ratings and merchandise sales ensures Family Guy a place in the ranks of other shows for as long as the creators continue the tradition. Like The Simpsons, Family Guy has achieved legendary status, and that is good news for the fans and creators alike. Though controversial, Family Guy brings the joy of laughter to people. That is why comedy is important, laughter brings joy and nobody does comedy quite like Family Guy.

If you are a fan of this series, or comedy in general, this is an absolute must-buy. Some of these episodes are the best in the series yet. Every year, the series grows. As a longtime fan of this series, I can honestly say that, although not for the faint of heart, Family guy will make you laugh, and isn’t that is what a good comedy (animated or otherwise) is supposed to make happen.
