In The Descendants, it was a tradition of the King family to go camping on their ancestors' land. In this feature, we will explore some cool places and interesting new ways to camp with your family, including the best time of year to go camping, what to bring, and fun activities to do on site.

Based on the best-selling novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings and set in Hawaii, THE DESCENDANTS is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family’s land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.

Isn't it funny how little ones tend to be so afraid of the dark? Sometimes, the fear seems so irrational, I think it is easy to forget that it is a part of childhood. Our little ones, however, often find themselves truly terrified, so we turn on a light outside of their rooms, or just plug in a nightlight. It is also funny how quickly that big bad monster in the closet disappears, when even the softest of light casts its glow. Of course, in most cases, when the child is grown the closet monsters disappear forever. My kids remind me so much of myself when I was their age. They get scared at night and hide under their blankets. They each have a lava lamp which, of course, gives off too much light, making them sneak and play instead of go to sleep. Then I have to turn off the lamps to make them settle down, and we're back to square one. When I was given the chance to do a review for KinderGlo, I was curious to see if there would be a difference in the nighttime routine. I thought long and hard on which one to choose. It was a tough decision, as they are all so cute. I finally decided to go with the Tyrannosaurus Night Light.

It’s likely when you think of animated movies; your mind goes right to the typical Disney fare and the Looney Tunes. But Ralph Bakshi’s cult classic Wizards is a science fantasy film about the battle between two wizards, one representing the forces of magic and one representing the forces of industrial technology. The 1977 post-apocalyptic-themed animated movie has a rather heavy subject matter for cartoons, but it’s not the first animated attempt at a darker tone. There is a little irony in seeing these twisted tales played out by cartoons but it never diminishes their entertainment value.
