Wilfred Season 1 DVD Review

You'll sit up and beg for more of Wilfred, the most hilarious and daringly original new comedy on TV.

Elijah Wood stars as Ryan, a down-on-his-luck lawyer who forms a unique friendship with his sexy neighbor's pet pooch "Wilfred." Everyone else sees a dog, but Ryan sees a bong-ripping, beer-chugging, foul-mouthed Australian bloke in a furry suit (played by the outrageously funny Jason Gann.) By unleashing the surly, sweet and always adventurous Wilfred, Ryan may just learn to stand on his own hind legs and embrace the insanity of real life.

Wilfred Season 1 released onto Blu-ray and DVD June 19th.

The complete first season of Wilfred has introduced me to a style of television that I am not used to experiencing. I did not know what to expect the first time I watched it, but I didn’t expect what I saw. The show is funny, but its appeal seems rather select. I had to watch it, and I ended up glad that I did.

As with any show, you have to start with the first episode. I would venture to say that if you miss the first episode of Wilfred, the rest of the first season won’t make much sense to you. It starts a little slow but explains everything nicely as it goes along. The humor is subtle, the way I like it.

Wilfred has been met with generally high review scores and ratings, and for good reason I think. If more people would watch this show, more would like it. I think that the movie will appeal to anyone that is willing to give it an honest shot. I’m glad that I had a chance to watch it, and Elijah Wood is great.

1 Sweet Comments:

  1. Wilfred is absolutely one of my favorite shows right now. I love the tone, and the dark humor. I’ve always really liked Elijah Wood, and I think this is the best thing he’s ever been a part of. As for the DVD there was a lack of extras, but if you go to dishonline.com, even without being a customer, you can check out some of the extra stuff they have for Wilfred, some behind the scenes stuff that isn’t on the DVD’s. I can’t wait to have lunch today with my coworkers here at Dish; on our break we’re getting together to re-watch last week’s episode on my iPad. Anyway, great review!
