Love's Everlasting Courage DVD Review

Bring Love Home this Mother’s Day
All-New Movie Arrives on DVD May 8th
Inspired by Janette Oke’s Beloved Love Comes Softly Book Series

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Hallmark Channel’s captivating saga returns with another touching film based on the best-selling Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke.  Centering on family values in the 19th century, the heartwarming story, LOVE’S EVERLASTING COURAGE, enlightens on DVD May 8 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Clark Davis (Wes Brown, “True Blood”) struggles to maintain his land and support his family during a long drought.  With a bank loan to repay, his wife, Ellen (Julie Mond, “General Hospital”) takes a job in town as a seamstress, but soon becomes ill with scarlet fever.  Devastated to lose his beloved wife, Clark and his young daughter turn to his parents for support.  Clark must find a way to save his farm and survive Ellen's death without losing the person he loves most: his daughter.

With extraordinary supporting performances from Cheryl Ladd (“Charlie’s Angels”), Bruce Boxleitner (TRON franchise) and Morgan Lily (X-Men: First Class), Love’s Everlasting Courage prebook is April 11.

The popularity of the beloved Loves Comes Softly series continues making LOVE’S EVERLASTING COURAGE the tenth release in the franchise.
I am a big fan of the “Love Comes Softly” saga. I have all of the earlier movies, so when I was given the opportunity to review the latest installment, “Love’s Everlasting Courage”, I was excited and eager to view the new film.

All of the stories in the love saga, most Hallmark movies for that matter, are themed with the philosophy that “Love conquers all” both directly and in other indirect ways. The films lend example of how important it is to have love in our lives, and how lost we become without it. Love’s Everlasting Courage is no exception to the rule, and does well continuing the series tradition of dealing with tragedy, overcoming obstacles, and rediscovering happiness when it seems all but lost.
Early but key plot elements make it difficult to summarize the story without spoiling much of it. I felt that the climax came very early, and that much of the movie was a struggling climb for the family that the story follows. Life is hard for them, things start to look up but then crash and things go back to being very difficult, but this time the pain is different.

I loved the movie overall. It was just a tad predictable here and there, but the acting, direction, and ending all contribute to show the good that can result when people join together for a common cause. It also shows that, through love, happiness can again rise from the ashes that a raging inferno of misery leaves behind.

This movie is truly heartwarming and full of values that can seem lost in recent films. I recommend it to everyone, and I know that you will enjoy it.
