Hormel™ Country Crock® “Side Dish Challenge Review/Giveaway

I am so happy the holidays is here. There are so many things that are on our list for the holidays. We have gift shopping, wrapping accessories, decorations and oh yes our holiday dinner. Wouldn't it be nice if you could find things that can make your life during the holidays. Of course, we can't find anything to help with gifts, accessories and decorations. But, there are ways to make our preparation much smoother and easier when it comes to making our holiday dinners.

I was so excited when I had the chance to be part of the Hormel™ Country Crock® “Side Dish Challenge”, which has opened my eyes to ways to make your dinner preparation run more smoother and faster. Since, my husbands job, and my daughter having to spend some of the holiday season with her dad, we have to have our holiday dinner early this year.

During my review I was sent four coupons and also a $25.00 gift card to make a complete dinner for our whole family. I was really excited to make dinner and well not have to worry about the side dishes that can tend to be a little time consuming, and can take a while to make.

When I went to the store I decided to purchase two Homestyle Mashed Potatoes, Elbow Macaroni and Cheese, and Cheddar Broccoli Rice. I was wanting to purchase stuffing or the apples but the store I went to which was Walmart didn't carry all of the varieties. Which was a little upsetting as it didn't allow me to better review the items. Although, this isn't Hormel's fought, more less the store. But, anyways I still was able to test a few of the item.

I love the price as you are able to purchase each varieties for around $3.50 depending on the store you are at. I also love the fact that Hormel does offer so many different dishes, they really offer almost every side dish you could think of. I would love to see corn, green beans, baked beans in the future just to name a few.

There are several different varieties available. All of which would make a great addition to any meal or holiday dinner.

    Loaded Mashed Potatoes

    Mashed Sweet Potatoes
    Homestyle Stuffing
    Cornbread Stuffing

Country Crock Side Dishes can help you take advantage of that little time you get to make a family meal.  You can taake these traditionally time-consuming side dishes like mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and stuffing and have them hot and ready in just five minutes flat. Each side is made with quality ingredients and are kept refrigerated, not frozen.  You will have the fresh taste of homemade food every time you try Country Crock side dishes.

Each dish can be cooked on the top stove in a pan or can be prepared by keeping in the container right in the microwave. I love that there is this option, depending what will be the most convenient at the moment. Of course I can't see cooking certain things in the microwave but these items are made specifically for microwave preparation, and they work well.

Within five minutes the dish is completed and ready to eat. That is so fast compared to everything else you have to cook. I am not normally into microwave dishes or even precooked dishes, as my family has always been into home cooked meals. However I was really surprised the ease of preparing these dishes and surprised at how tasty they actually were.

The Elbow Macaroni and Cheese was prepared in the microwave and was quite easy as are the design of dishes you prepare in the microwave. You simply follow the straight forward instructions. I was really happy that the macaroni wasn't too hard or way to soft, they had the proper consistency. I also was really impressed that the cheese sauce was so good and creamy. My kids were huge fans of this side dish, and ate it up pretty fast.

The Homestyle Mashed Potatoes were prepared on the stove top. When I first got the side dish out of the tub, I mixed and heated it, and it started to look like mashed potatoes. While cookting I did notice that it was kind of bland, so I added salt, pepper and butter to give it flavor but I do this with my own anyway. Since, all I had to do was flavor and heat, this dish really eliminated the process of boiling potatoes and then getting the mixer out and mixing them, which can be a really long process.

I was surprised at the texture of the mashed potatoes, they had a nice consistency to them. I was personally able to tell they were not homemade, but I also have never had anything other than homemade. But, to be honest; I was really happy with the taste and really enjoyed them being part of our dinner.

My hubby is a huge Cheddar Broccoli Rice eater, so he was really happy. He said that the broccoli was very fresh, surprisingly so, considering in was a pre-packaged serving. The cheese was very creamy and set the dish alive with flavor. He said they reminded him of his mother's cheesy broccoli.

I was so happy to have the chance to be part of the Hormel™ Country Crock® “Side Dish Challenge and can really see our family using these side dishes to help with our next big dinner.

Where to purchase: You are able to purchase these Hormel Country Crock Side Dishes at local stores in your area. Prices will vary depending on where you purchase.
