Yoga By The Dozen DVD Review/Giveaway

Discover an exercise that for our little ones can teach respect, coordination, and self-confidence.  Children are naturally great at yoga because of their in the moment attitude and their flexibilities. Yoga helps nourish their mind, body and spirit and paves the way for a life-long tradition of health and fitness. As a mom I think exercise is really important in my kids lives. I am not saying they need to lose way but, it does help them stay fit and healthy. By starting them at a young age teaching them the importance of keeping their bodies healthy. This will hopefully keep them in the routine of doing it for a lifetime. Yoga By The Dozen offers a way to help me do this.

JoAnna Ross is an accomplished yoga teacher, dancer and fitness educator from New Jersey. Her career began early, at the age of 3 she started taking ballet and tap classes. JoAnna moved to Los Angeles to pursue career opportunities. After a few years of dedicated yoga practice, JoAnna enrolled in City Yoga’s Anusara teacher training program. This five-month intensive training program included classes in alignment principles, anatomy, philosophy, meditation, therapeutics, and teaching classes with an emphasis in spotting and adjusting students properly.

Once she completed her yoga teacher training, JoAnna started teaching at the Hollywood YMCA and assisting with kids’ classes at the Montessori School, Shir Hashirim. She has taught at Shir Hashirim for the last three years teaching children ages 2 to 6.  JoAnna has been lucky enough to teach at some of the best yoga studios in Los Angeles. She continues to teach at Blackdog Yoga, The Sports Club LA, and has several private clients including well-known TV, film and music stars. She has taught yoga to people from the age of 2 to 82.

I knew that my kids were going to be super excited when I was given the chance to review the Yoga By The Dozen DVD. Since, my kids are already a huge fan of yoga, I knew they were going to love this DVD. I have read so many great reviews on this, that I couldn't wait to get my kids started. Joann, she does have away with kids from being playful to being a very detailed instructor. You can tell on the DVD how well the kids respond to her, as did my kids.

I was really surprised at all the different poses she teaches kids. To be honest not sure if I would be able to do some of them. I am shocked at how well the kids were able to do it. While she is teaching little ones all these different poses, it is working certain areas and muscles. Which I think is great.

My little girl whom is 7 was able to keep up with no problems of course she may not have done the poses exactly like the other kids but she did try. My little boy whom is 4 did have a little issue keeping up. As the DVD is a little face paced, which I know as time goes that won't be a issue. Even thought my kids weren't' doing the poses and able to keep up as the other kids did. They were still having a blast and were able to learn new poses.

With my kids both being ADD and ADHD this I am sure will come in handy as a way to help them focus and relax. I love that at the Yoga By The Dozen store offers a kids yoga mat. This mat is amazing there are hand and foot prints on the mat, used as a indicator where to place their body parts. This is such a great mat for kids.
