An impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's, the film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn), through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt).

Fox Searchlight Pictures and River Road Entertainment present THE TREE OF LIFE, written and directed by Terrence Malick and starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain.  The producers are Sarah Green, Bill Pohlad, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Grant Hill.

I immediately knew by the cover, I would have to wait until my kids were either in school or in bed to be able to watch the movie. I knew this by what I had read on Amazon. Also, on the back of the case, I knew that I would have to approach this movie with a open mind. This is unlike any big budget film I have seen in the past from the characters and how the story line progresses. The whole of the movie is very deep but slow and could easily frustrate one that isn't into movies that are very slow. As I have watched movies before that have a slower passed feel to it and more serious, for me this is fine. Sometimes, I just want a movie where I am slowly drawn in.

The storyline to me is like a book you read it moves slowly, but as you get future into the story you find yourself really enjoying what you are reading. Loving the fact that you are being drawn into the bigger picture.

The film is about reality and life, which I feel is the backbone. About how a man dealt with his own human conditioning. I know to one this may sound like a very serious movie but it is a excellent movie.
