Carlito C. Caterpillar’s MathHouse Game Card Set Review/Giveaway

I have a little girl that is in the 2nd grade right now, and math is a huge part of her learning. For some kids Math can be easy or Math can be hard. It really depends on the kid. For my little girl when she is having trouble in a subject and that included Math I try to find other ways to help her learn. One thing to help is making it fun. I was so happy when I was contacted to review Carlito C. Caterpillar's Math House Games, because I knew this would be a great help in teaching my little girl more about Math.

About the company: "Meet Domenico Marcario, M.S. – The creator of Carlito C. Caterpillar’s MathHouseTM Sensory Math Teaching System, is a retired high school mathematics teacher and full-time passionate grandparent! The Carlito C. Caterpillar’s Sensory Math Teaching System is the outgrowth of years of research and development. It utilizes the natural way children learn.

Knowledge acquired by the Carlito C. Caterpillar’s MathHouse Sensory Math Teaching System is internalized because it is experienced with the senses through child-centered activities. The system, rooted in a child’s natural learning capabilities, utilizes Math-Tools to model mathematical concepts and results in a deep and thorough understanding of such concepts."

From birth, children discover facts through sensory experiences. Fueled by curiosity and imagination, children use their eyes, hands, ears, noses, and mouths to learn about their world. They gain understanding by doing rather than by sitting passively and watching someone else do the thinking for them.

The games are designed to build upon the knowledge young children already possess. Only when a child fully understands a concept, will you increase the complexity, such as reversing the roles of the players and designating the child as the leader.

Carlito C. Caterpillar’s MathHouse Game Card Set: Based on Domenico’s proprietary 20 Step Sensory Math Teaching System. Featuring two uniquely designed games to demonstrate each step (40 games in all).

The set contains:

  • 30 double-sided, full color, illustrated Game Cards

  • Each 8" x 4" loose leaf card is printed on heavy card stock, lacquered to help protect from spills and ring bound to keep together and facilitate play
The day I received this in the mall it was really chilly out and also rainy, which I knew that this day would be a great day to try the product out. When my little girl got home and I showed it to her and she was more then to hang out with me and play some Math games. After looking through the very organized and ring binder book I noticed that not only is this great for my 2nd grader but also for younger kids in pre-school. Which is really nice with having two kids at totally different ages and they are both having to learn things in Math at different levels.

My daughter went future to the back due to her age level and what she already knows. It is really nicely organized with be younger learners to older learners. It starts off by being able to sort through different sized and colored socks to learn about pairing. Then it goes all the way to learning how to divide and times.

Another great thing is it tells you what items to use and how, things you already use everyday. So, this makes it very interactive, plus is a great family activity to spend together. My kids had a blast I did some things with my little girl and also with my little boy. Where it is interactive they seemed to stay focused and enjoy their selves much more then just looking in a book and learning.

I really like the fact that it is put together with a ring, this allows you to literally move the pages. Instead of having to fold back the cover and try to keep the book from closing on you. The pages are made very well with tons of color, thickness and glossy feel.

Where to purchase: You can go to their website and order for $23.95.
