The Tastes from Home with Frito-Lay Recipe Contest/Giveaway/Recipe


Oh how certain smells, dishes and tastes can bring me back to home and my child hood. Growing up we had a lot of family dinners where several family members would get together and we would just have a day filled with eating some real great tasting grilling out foods and playing games like horse shoes, crochet, and hide & seek as little kids. I grew up in a small town in the south of Ohio where eating anything goes. We are huge meat and potato eaters and well a lot of garden food added in there. Plus, barbecue always makes food better. Home cooked meals out of scratch is a big thing as well so when someones comes to a cook out with a covered dish you knew that person put a lot of time and energy in that dish and it was going to be so tasty.


One of my most favorite dishes is well anything to do with barbecue, but I have to say a great rack of ribs cooked all day with a rub and then smoother the ribs with barbecue is one of my most favorite dishes plus beef BBQ, pulled pork or pulled chicken is three awesome dishes as well. So whether we are at a family cookout, a Sunday Dinner with the in laws or simply a dinner at home this is one of my most favorite dishes of home. 


Would you like to know how to make my family's homemade Beef BBQ? Not really sure who came up with the recipe but I know that my great grandma cooked this as well so it is a recipe that has been with the family for quit some time. Well here it is for you to try and enjoy eating.


Beef BBQ


3 LBS. raw chuck roast cut into cubes
3 stalks of celery finely chopped
2 large onions finely chopped
7oz. of ketchup
1tsp. chili powder
2 T. BBQ sauce
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 cup water 
2 T. vinger


Mix all ingredients together well in pan. Bring to a boil then simmer for 4 or 5 hours, then pull apart with a fork or smash with a potato smasher.

  •     Midwestern U.S. – Lay’s Creamy Garden Ranch
  •     Northwestern U.S. – Lay’s Balsamic Sweet Onion
  •     Southwestern U.S. – Lay’s Chipotle Ranch
  •     Southeastern U.S. – Lay’s Cajun Herb & Spice
All of the Lay's Regional Flavored potato chips are made with all natural ingredients and cooked in healthier oils, like corn and sunflower oils, which contain 80% or more of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat - the "good fats." They also contain 0 grams of trans fats per serving! There’s also less sodium in them than you might think – a 1-oz serving of our Lay’s Regional Flavored potato chips contains less salt than a plain bagel!

I am sure that Friot Lays for give everyone a Taste From Home with all the flavors that they offer. My most favorite flavor would have to be the Tangy Carolina BBQ which really reminds me of the recipe I shared with you all and plus the other dishes I really love. The other flavors are just as great as well like the Cajun Spice and Herb plus the Balsamic Sweet Onion.
