Emerson Creek Pottery Review

About the Company:Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Emerson Creek Pottery artisans are continuing the American tradition of pottery making in a contemporary way. Influenced by the energy of Early American cobalt decoration, owners Priscilla Palmer and Jim Leavitt founded Emerson Creek Pottery in 1977. Priscilla developed the unique technique of applying natural pigments to an absorbent glaze with a Japanese Sumi-e brush. The spontaneity of the brush stroke, combined with the accuracy of design yields our distinctively recognizable style. Priscilla's deep love of the natural world provides a multitude of organic designs for all of Emerson Creek's pottery.
Their pottery is formed of clay made on site. Each piece is hand made, hand painted and fired in a gas kiln. Each pattern is a series of carefully planned strokes. No templates or stencils are used. The patterns are practiced and committed to memory. The artists paint the pattern again and again. Each piece is alike and yet different.

Emerson Creek Pottery also offers various designs which is a beautiful collection. They offer Field of Iris, Lavender, Pine-cone, Cranberry, Wisteria, Blueberry, Artisan, Smith Mt. Lake, Red Poppy, DragonFly, Tuscan Olive, Go Green, Shamrock, and Summer Peaks. All of them are unique, beautiful, and hand painted so delicate.

Along with all the beautiful designs they also offer so many different products that are so breath taking. They offer items to do with dinnerware, bake-ware, kitchenware, bathroom accessories, pitchers, teapots, searing ware, vases, lamps, baby sets, candles, and home decor. My Thoughts: I was able to review a lovely Field of Iris bread basket which I had no idea there was any such thing. I was very impressed with the hand craft of it all. The perfect delicate painting which was on the breadbasket was breath taking. The fact that they take there time to paint the designs shows how much they truly love what they do and that they take personally how each item looks. I made chili a few nights after receiving it and it was perfect. It was much nicer to reach right in get what crackers you need and not fight with the wrapper and noise. This made dinner so much nicer. I look forward to purchasing much more from them in the future not just for myself but also for gifts to others. Another thing that really impressed me was that all pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe, ovenproof, and 100% lead free.
